Instagram Tips - Part III
I get a lot of requests for tips on how to grow your account. I have been successful on Instagram due to some of these tips I am posting below. Instagram is a Live, constantly updating social network. The User Interface, is always updated, New Channels added all the time, and a lot of mystery involved in regards to how manage to turn up at the top of the feed algorithm.
In this post, I will give you some tips I live by, that help me succeed on Instagram.
It's a Visual Platform – Your Profile Picture, and Gallery are your face. Make them interesting: Write an actual Bio that help understand who you are, Put a web Link in Bio, and most important, make sure whoever lands in your profile, does not see the same thing over and over again in the thumbnails.
People who are browsing Instagram thumbnails need to click your post to full view. Make each post stick out already in the thumbnail, wether it is the image, or the video cover frame.
Instagram feed has very Short Memory – First 24 Hours have the highest engagement, next 48 Hours have reduced engagement, after that its mostly gone. This means you need to post every day to continue to engage existing and new audiences, and grow.
You need to be Consistent – Try to Post something new everyday, at around the same times, and more or less the same amount of posts per day. Learn to pin point on the time that yields the best engagement.
Space your posts, both stories and feed, don’t post too many posts at once – You get lower traffic and engagement this way, and you might be labeled as spam.
Hashtags – Use them often, use them wisely, keep them refreshed, don’t repeat. You have up to 30, so plenty of choices to colour your story and posts. More than 30 deletes all your text so count them well. One thing to take into considerations is that some hashtags are banned from Instagram, and can impact your post visibility. My suggestion is to search for each hashtag and to see that it is searchable, and not limited in content.
Use all available channels - Stories, Videos, Photos, and Galleries. Use hashtags in all to open additional traffic origins. You get more exposure this way, and this helps engage your audience at more places.
Phone Screen Real Estate – Use ONLY Portrait Mode, Square is OK, and ABSOLUTELY NO Landscape images, or Frames around Images. A portrait image is x 2 the Realestate on the Phone Screen than a Landscape image.
Be a good sport - Like and comment on your friends posts, like and comment back to your followers. Love goes around, and comments and conversations drive new engagement.
